比三鹿厲害100倍的大閘蟹

Yale Professor Chan CM, in his lecture at Beida Univ about poisonous eels being sold in China and how widely the local eel farms are using hormones which remain in the human body sometimes for 7-8 yrs.


Prof Chan went on to say that an Environmental Scientist whom he met at Suzhow meeting told him "my relative who owns a bean sprouts farm said that because of the use of hormones, the sprouts normally take 5 days to be ready for sale is now ready in 1 day. Truckloads are sold to Canton and no one in his village will eat the stuff they farmed. "

據媒體報導,耶魯大學經濟學教授陳志武去年在北大演講時,談到毒黃鱔問題

他說,當年七月,他到蘇州參加會議用餐時,一位科學院環境研究所知名學者對他說:“你們知道如今的黃鱔為什麼長得這麼快嗎?就是因為飼養者用了激素,人吃了黃鱔,這些激素在人體內七、八年還要發揮作用。”陳志武說,聽到這話之後,嚇得那些與會學者們沒人再敢吃黃鱔 了。
陳志武還說,“ 我有一個親戚是賣豆芽的,他對我說:這些豆芽不能吃,用了激素,本來要五天才能長大的豆芽只要一天就長好了。本村人知道這些,都不去買這種豆芽,都是賣給廣州,一卡車一卡車,一夜之間就到了廣州的菜市場。”

Hairy Crabs : Mostly from Jiangsu .. Each year, the crabs became more affordable due to large harvest. They are bred using all kinds of toxins : hormones, antibiotics. From the baby crabs stage, the crabs are fed around 10 types of chemicals. In Fujian , they are worse, they will feed the female crabs with birthcontrol hormones so that the mother crab will be plumb and ready.


不僅黃鱔、豆芽,還有廣東、香港人最 愛吃的大閘蟹,也是用激素餵養的。江蘇是中國盛產大閘蟹之地,有600多個蟹場。
香港廣東的大閘 蟹,多是從江蘇運來的。香港《壹週刊》去年十月報導說,“香港人喜 歡吃大閘蟹,蟹價越來越便宜,幾乎成為市民家常便菜。大閘蟹賣得愈便宜,市民吃得愈凶。”大閘蟹怎麼越賣越便宜,是大豐收嗎?

該刊記者專程到江蘇蟹場採訪,結果發現,那些大閘蟹都是用激素快速養成的。湖裏的大閘蟹一般至少兩年才能長到二兩以上,但江蘇養殖場的大閘蟹,使用激素之後,都是一年蟹,當年下苗,當年養成上市。《壹週刊》的記者把從江蘇蟹場買回來的螃蟹送到香港“標準及檢定中 心”化驗發現,蟹 肉裏不僅有激素,還有多種對人體有害的抗菌素。

江蘇使用“高科技”養蟹聞名的“大發水產養殖場”徐場長對 香港記者說,“ 從 蟹苗到上市,至少要十種藥,例如:氯黴素、土黴素、乙醇、痢特靈、諾氟沙星、恩諾沙星、病毒靈、多西黴素、己烯雌酚等等。”他還謙虛地說,他們比較守本 份,福建人更毒,在 蟹產卵時喂避孕藥,這樣母蟹不會變瘦,蟹苗更容易長大。說著,這位蟹場負責人撈出兩隻大蟹對記者說:“你看看,多凶,不吃藥哪有這麼凶!”當記者問這麼做不是害人嗎?這位場長直率地說,“現在的魚類、家禽類,哪一樣不是藥物長大的!”你不這樣做,別人做,你還能做生意嗎?
24 hours after they are fetched, the crabs arrive HK dinner table, but not before they were fed one last time with antibiotics so that they will stay healthy enroute.
If you walk along the small streets in the Crab Farms, you will see many shops selling "Medicine for Crabs"; there are at least 10 different kinds on their "menu".


香港記者在江蘇蟹場看到,“工人將藥物攙入飼料,站在船上撒飼料,有如天女散花。”江蘇的大閘蟹,多數外銷香港、廣東,而且使用飛機運,當晚撈蟹,次日上午就運到香港、深圳,下午就上市,晚上香港人就吃到嘴了。那位徐場長透露,為了防止運輸途中大閘蟹死亡,他們在捕蟹前再喂一次抗菌素。而24小時後,那些抗菌素就經蟹肉到了港人肚子裏。香港記者說,在“大發養殖 場”附近路上,隨處可見“蟹藥店”。他們進去一家,賣藥人一下子拿出十多包不同種類的藥物,並告訴記者用法:土黴素每百斤飼料攙500顆、痢特靈每百斤飼料攙8兩、乙醇每百斤飼料攙9兩……
Next Magazine Investigative Journalists took 12 Hairy Crabs for lab test. 11 of them have 土黴素. 6 have 氯黴素 All damaging to blood, and esp bad for pregnant women and foetuses.

《壹週刊》記者把從港九、新界、深圳、江蘇四個地方買回的12只大閘蟹,送去化驗,結果發現11個樣本有土黴素,6個樣本有氯黴素。土黴素屬“過時”抗菌素,因副作用太多,很少使用;而氯黴素屬香港違禁物質,因會壓抑骨 髓功能,影響人體產生血球和血小板,導致貧血、抵抗力下降和凝血困難問題。孕婦吃了含有土黴素的毒蟹,胎兒的骨質會變灰、變脆。
香港記者在江蘇瞭解到,蟹場附近的女性,很多因吃了帶毒的大閘蟹而有流產症。在“大發蟹場”附近住的周紅梅說, “我生在水邊,吃水產長大,懷上三個孩子都流產了。後來醫生禁止我吃螃蟹,說裏面的藥物會對我不利,我照做了,才有了這個小寶寶。”

If they tell you their crabs are fed by organically (versus Chemically Fed), that means they are fed by decomposing carcases of dead cats, dogs, chicken. The dogs died from first being poisoned, or from diseases. The owner of the crab farm pulled from under a bed a dead carcass, deskin and dehaired it, waving a piece of the leg proudly pronouncing it as "organic feed" These dogs came from a private vendor that kills the dogs by poisonous gases. The dog died from chemical poisoning.
The investigative journalists from HK witnessed such display of "organic feeding" when the farmer tossed the dog carcass into the pond. They watched 2 crabs feeding on the decaying carcass.


除了使用激素、抗菌素,江蘇的蟹場還使用死 貓、死狗、死家禽等餵養大閘蟹。江蘇“新群蟹場”被稱為“李叔”的負責人的床下就放著兩隻未剝皮的死狗,還有一堆死雞鴨。他說,“一星期放一次,蟹特別喜歡吃爛肉!”香港記者看到蟹塘中浮著一隻剝了皮的死狗,兩隻大閘蟹爬在狗上進食。水面的狗血紅中帶紫,狗頭呲牙咧嘴,樣子很恐怖。但那位“李叔”卻很輕鬆地從他的床下拖出一隻死狗,剝去皮毛,拎著狗腿對記者得意地說:“這是天然飼料,我的蟹營養豐富,從小吃肉,不像別人的蟹從小吃藥!”但這些狗都是走私團夥將路上的狗用劇毒氰化鉀毒死後,拿來出售的,本身就是毒狗。
The Fishery Dept of the govt showed that the most famous YC Lake for Hairy Crabs, at maximum can only produce 13,000 Class 1 Crabs. HK imported 130K crabs all claiming it's from YC Lake.
養蟹的人說,現在大閘蟹飼料有兩種:素和葷。吃素就是喂激素,以及土黴素、氯黴素,金黴素等抗菌素;吃葷就是往蟹塘裏扔死狗、死豬、死雞、死老鼠、死魚、死蝦,這叫 “天然飼料”。江蘇陽澄湖出產的大閘蟹最出名,但據水產部門統計,陽澄湖的一級大閘蟹,每年只產一萬三千隻。但去年香港人吃了一千三百萬隻螃蟹(平均每人吃兩隻),可見大部份都是冒牌貨。江蘇淡水研究所工程師唐天德說,現在全中國除西藏外,都說出售正宗陽澄湖大閘蟹,但八成以上是雜種蟹;是毒蟹。

JiangSu natural water engineer Mr Tong, TK said the the whole of China claims that the hairy crabs they sell are from YC Lake. The only exception being those sold in Tibet , a desert :-P

Turtles, Snakes, all fed by chemicals, as well as birth control hormones.

廣 東人、香港人還喜歡吃 烏 龜,認為大補。 但養殖戶用避孕藥替烏龜增肥,本來五、六年才長大的烏龜,現在一兩年就能上市。香港人和廣東人還喜歡吃蛇,但據深圳《晶報》報導,蛇場為了使蛇在短期內份量加重,也喂避孕藥。深圳、香港市面出售的蛇,體形肥肥大大的都是食藥蛇。



據廣州《南方週末》報導,中國每年生產700噸諾酮類(一種抗菌素),但其中有一半被蟹場、蛇場、烏龜場、黃鱔場等養殖業用掉;再加上其他種類的抗菌素,不知總數有多少噸,最後全部轉到了香港人、廣東人,以至各地中國人的肚子裏,不知慢性殺死了多少國人。誰知道這薩斯病是不是這些毒藥經毒動物再轉化到人體後產生的呢?專家們不是說這種病毒以前只在動物體內產生過嗎。

Toxin fed Crabs, snakes, eels, turtles, all fed for revenue, not forgetting fake milk powder, Fish from fish farms, bean sprouts, fake soya sauce, fake seaweeds, fake eggs ........ Color-enriched tomatoes, melon seeds, grapes...... all massive exploits to milk cash. Why is all that happening in China ?
First: Lack of govt control. To be fair, even if the govt wish to do it, they cannot keep up with the sudden market demand as consumers as the surging middle class have a lot more cash nowadays.
2nd : Greed.
3rd and most fundamental reason : This has led to the current problem of the maximization of profit at the cost of morality.

4th: The lack of Family Values (as kids growing up, the only family value bred them is how to make money). The daily mantra is "Study hard to ultimately get rich."

The adults feel that they have to make up for "lost" time when they were deprived under the Totalitarian regime when the govt kept what they harvested. While their bank accounts swell, they are morally bankrupt.
這些毒螃蟹、毒蛇、毒黃鱔、毒烏龜等,只是當今中國摻毒食品的巨大冰山一角。在中國人突然有了發財致富的機會、卻又處於一個無法無天的 道德真空 (既無宗教信仰,傳統倫理也全部淪喪)狀態下,那種不顧一切賺錢的欲念,可以誘發出人性中最冷漠、最惡毒、最瘋狂的部份。像往番茄、葡萄等水果上撒藥、塗色以增加鮮亮等,都根本不足一提了。在這種情況下,中國的食品檢驗制度又遠遠不完善,同時人為的漏洞比大閘蟹還多。例如香港記者曾在江蘇蟹場問那位徐場長,“國家有沒有禁止或者化驗標準?”徐場長毫不忌諱地說,“笑話,你不瞭解國情吧!放藥多少上市測試也沒個准,他高興就放行,不高興,再乾淨也沒用!”

當年第一個吃螃蟹的人,被稱為最勇敢的人。但今天,敢吃中國大閘蟹的人,還是世界上最勇敢的人!

Aging of Our Body

WE all accept that getting older is inevitable, and now leading clinicians have revealed the exact age when different body parts start to decline, most alarming being the brain and lungs.
French doctors have found that the quality of men's' sperm starts to deteriorate by 35, so that by the time a man is 45 a third of pregnancies end in miscarriage.
Here, with the help of leading clinicians, Angela Epstein tells the Daily Mail the ages when different parts of the body start to lose their battle with time.

BRAIN - Starts ageing at 20
As we get older, the number of nerve cells - or neurons - in the brain decrease. We start with around 100 billion, but in our 20s this number starts to decline. By 40, we could be losing up to 10,000 per day, affecting memory, co-ordination and brain function.

GUT - Starts ageing at 55
A healthy gut has a good balance between harmful and 'friendly' bacteria. But levels of friendly bacteria in the gut drop significantly after 55, particularly in the large intestine, says Tom MacDonald, professor of immunology at Barts And The London medical school. As a result, we suffer from poor digestion and an increased risk of gut disease. Constipation is more likely as we age, as the flow of digestive juices from the stomach, liver, pancreas and small intestine slows down.

BREASTS - Start ageing at 35
BY their mid-30s, women's breasts start losing tissue and fat, reducing size and fullness. Sagging starts properly at 40 and the areola (the area surrounding the nipple) can shrink considerably.

BLADDER - Starts ageing at 65
Loss of bladder control is more likely when you hit 65. Women are more vulnerable to bladder problems as, after the menopause, declining oestrogen levels make tissues in the urethra - the tube through which urine passes - thinner and weaker, reducing bladder support. Bladder capacity in an older adult generally is about half that of a younger person - about two cups in a 30-year-old and one cup in a 70-year-old.

LUNGS - Start ageing at 20
Lung capacity slowly starts to decrease from the age of 20. By the age of 40, some people are already experiencing breathlessness. This is partly because the muscles and the rib cage which control breathing stiffen up.

VOICE - Starts ageing at 65
Our voices become quieter and hoarser with age. The soft tissues in the voice box (larynx) weaken, affecting the pitch, loudness and quality of the voice.
A woman's voice may become huskier and lower in pitch, whereas a man's might become thinner and higher.

EYES - Start ageing at 40
Glasses are the norm for many over-40s as failing eyesight kicks in - usually long-sightedness, affecting our ability to see objects up close.

HEART - Starts ageing at 40
The heart pumps blood less effectively around the body as we get older. This is because blood vessels become less elastic, while arteries can harden or become blocked because of fatty deposits forming on the coronary arteries - caused by eating too much saturated fat. The blood supply to the heart is then reduced, resulting in painful angina. Men over 45 and women over 55 are at greater risk of a heart attack.

LIVER - Starts ageing at 70
This is the only organ in the body which seems to defy the aging process.

KIDNEYS - Starts ageing at 50
With kidneys, the number of filtering units (nephrons) that remove waste from the bloodstream starts to reduce in middle age.

PROSTATE - Starts ageing at 50
The prostate often becomes enlarged with age, leading to problems such as increased need to urinate, says Professor Roger Kirby, director of the Prostate Centre in London. This is known as benign prostatic hyperplasia and affects half of men over 50, but rarely those under 40. It occurs when the prostate absorbs large amounts of the male sex hormone testosterone, which increases the growth of cells in the prostate. A normal prostate is the size of a walnut, but the condition can increase this to the size of a tangerine.

BONES - Start ageing at 35
'Throughout our life, old bone is broken down by cells called osteoclasts and replaced by bone-building cells called osteoblasts - a process called bone turnover,' explains Robert Moots, professor of rheumatology at Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool. Children's bone growth is rapid - the skeleton takes just two years to renew itself completely. In adults, this can take ten years. Until our mid-20s, bone density is still increasing. But at 35 bone loss begins as part of the natural ageing process.

TEETH - Start ageing at 40
As we age, we produce less saliva, which washes away bacteria, so teeth and gums are more vulnerable to decay. Receding gums - when tissue is lost from gums around the teeth - is common in adults over 40.

MUSCLES - Start ageing at 30
Muscle is constantly being built up and broken down, a process which is well balanced in young adults. However, by the time we're 30, breakdown is greater than buildup, explains Professor Robert Moots. Once adults reach 40, they start to lose between 0.5 and 2 per cent of their muscle each year. Regular exercise can help prevent this.

HEARING - Starts ageing mid-50s
More than half of people over 60 lose hearing because of their age, according to the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.

SKIN - Starts ageing mid-20s
The skin starts to age naturally in your mid-20s.

TASTE AND SMELL - Start ageing at 60
We start out in life with about 10,000 taste buds scattered on the tongue. This number can halve later in life. After we turn 60, taste and smell gradually decline, partly as a result of the normal ageing process.

FERTILITY - Starts ageing at 35
Female fertility begins to decline after 35, as the number and quality of eggs in the ovaries start to fall. The lining of the womb may become thinner, making it less likely for a fertilised egg to take, and also creating an environment hostile to sperm.

HAIR - Starts ageing at 30
Male hair loss usually begins in the 30s. Hair is made in tiny pouches just under the skin's surface, known as follices. A hair normally grows from each follicle for about three years, is then shed, and a new hair grows.Most people will have some grey hair by the age of
35. When we are young, our hair is coloured by the pigments produced by cells in the hair follicle known as melanocytes.

Easy Way For Gout problem

青木瓜泡茶 痛風不見了

堂哥吃了有效,我也教有痛風的朋友喝(他腳趾關
節已變形),一週後就有很明顯的改善,兩週後就

This is a really effective, just mix green papaya cubes to the ordinary green tea, my cousin brother tried and found it very effective. I have also shared with a friend with gout to try this (his "toe joints" started to deform), after a week of drinking this formula there is significant improvement, after two weeks the toe joints heal and revert to normal state. It is almost three years now, the joint pain is gone, but he maintain the intake between 1-3 times monthly to avoid relapse.

將青木瓜切成丁放入水中煮沸後才放入茶葉,泡茶過程和一般茶葉相同。
據實際臨床經驗效果更佳,而且治療尿酸效果更佳(須常期喝)

Cut green papaya into small cubes, place into the water, bring to boil, then add green tea leaves, similar to the tea-making process. Clinical tests show that this brings better effects for treatment of gout, subject to frequent drinking of this formula.

青木瓜泡茶

台南縣仁德鄉後壁村長劉結慶患胃痛多年,把青木瓜當做茶壺泡茶喝,一個月後竟治癒宿疾,家人尿酸過多喝木瓜泡茶也不藥而癒,劉村長因而種了許多木瓜,送給有病的親友鄉親。

Mr Liu Qing, Chief of the Rende Town in Tainan , was suffering for years from severe stomach pain around the posterior wall of stomach. He used green papaya as a tea pot to prepare the family tea daily, after a month his chronic disease condition was much improved. His family members with high uric acid were also healed by the same papaya tea. For this Mr Liu planted a lot of papaya to share with relatives and friends with similar sickness.

劉村長說,青木瓜最好選擇果實肥短,容量比較大,將木瓜頂部切開,挖出木瓜內的種籽,再開一個小缺口方便倒茶水,8 F一邊開個小洞透氣,放入茶葉、倒進沸水後蓋回木瓜頂部,並以牙籤固定,泡茶過程和一般茶葉相同。

According to Mr Liu, in selection of the Green Papaya as tea pot, pick those whose shape are fat and short, with larger capacity. Cut off the top part of the papaya, clear away the seeds, open a small hole at the upper side wall to facilitate pouring of tea. Create a small ventilation hole at top cover, put in the tea leaves, pour in boiling water, place the top cover back to papaya, you may use the toothpicks to secure the top cover. Similar to normal process of preparing tea.

劉村長表示,茶葉使用一般品質的烏龍茶即可,味道不錯,他當做茶水喝了一個月,困擾多年無法治癒的胃痛居然不藥而癒,自己也感到驚訝,他把木瓜茶葉拿給在醫學中心任職的友人檢驗,證實木瓜酵素有益健康,現在只要果園木瓜有適合的果實,就拿來與親友分享。

Liu like to use Oolong tea as the taste is good. He was pleasantly surprised that the stomach pains he suffered for many years was healed after a month of drinking tea from the green papaya pot, without taking any other medication. He passed some green papaya leaves to a friend who worked at a Medical Center to test and analyse the content. The tests confirmed that healthy the enzyme present in papaya is beneficial to human health. Now as papaya in Mr Liu's orchard is yeilding suitable size fruit, he would share the fruits with family and friends.

種植木瓜多年的農民徐福昌說,本地民眾所指的青木瓜,就是還未成熟、果皮仍呈青綠色的木瓜,一般木瓜要四個月左右才會成熟,但成熟後就沒有療效,青木瓜大約在三個月大左右採收,這時果實較,果實內的「木瓜奶」含有木瓜酵素、木瓜等有B健康成份,不但可泡茶喝,還可以切塊連同排骨熬,或切細絲加蒜頭炒,都非常可口,對人體也沒有不良影響。

Xu Fuchang, an experienced papaya farmers, the green papaya refers to papaya that is not ripe, where the skin is still green in colour. Generally, the papaya takes about four months to fully mature and ripe, but there healing effect would be lost after it is fully ripe. Green Papaya should be harvested when the papaya is approximately three months old, when the fruit is still firm, and the "papaya milk" contains high papaya enzyme and other healthy ingredients. Not only the green papaya can be used in tea drinking, you may also cut them into cubes, and boil with the ribs, or even slicing the green papaya into fine long pieces and fried with garlic, very tasty, and no adverse effects on the human body.

Breathing Therapy

Our noses have left and right nostrils. Are these nostrils having the same function for inhaling (breathe in) and exhaling (breathe out)?

我們有左邊、右邊鼻孔,吸氣、吐氣時有沒有一樣?
Kita meiliki hidung berlubang disebelah kiri dan disebelah kanan, apakah fungsinya sama untuk menghirup dan membuang nafas?

Actually it's not the same and we can feel the difference. Accordingly, the right side represents the sun and the left side represents the moon.

其實不一樣,可以感覺不一樣;右邊等於是太陽的意思,左邊等於是月亮.
Sebenarnya fungsinya tidak sama dan dapat kita rasakan bedanya; sebelah kanan mewakili matahari (mengeluarkan panas) dan sebelah kiri mewakili bulan ( mengeluarkan dingin).

When having headache, try to close your right nostril and use your left nostril to do breathing for about 5 min. The headache will be gone.

平常頭痛時可以用手把右邊鼻孔關起來,只用左邊鼻孔吸氣、吐氣,約五分鐘,頭痛就好了。
Jika sakit kepala, cobalah menutup lubang hidung sebelah kanan dan bernafaslah melalui hidung sebelah kiri dan lakukan kira-kira 5 menit, sakit kepala akan sembuh.

If you feel too tired, do it the opposite way. Close your left nostril and breathe through your right nostril. After a while, you will feel refresh again.

如果疲倦、累了,相反的關起左邊的鼻孔,只用右邊吸氣、吐氣,不用多久,馬上精神好起了。 Jika Anda merasa lelah, lakukan bolak-balik. Tutup lubang hidung sebelah kiri dan bernafaslah melalui hidung sebelah kanan. Tak lama kemudian, Anda akan merasakan segar kembali.

Because the right side belongs to heat, so it gets hot easily. The left side gets cold easily.

因為右邊屬於火氣,比較會熱,左邊比較會涼。
Sebab lubang hidung sebelah kanan mengeluarkan panas, sehingga gampang sekali panas, Lubang hidung sebelah kiri mengeluarkan dingin..

Women breathe mainly with their left nostril, so they get calm down easily.

女生大部分吸氣、吐氣在左邊,所以心比較會涼快。
Perempuan bernafas lebih dengan hidung sebelah kiri, sehingga hatinya gampang sekali dingin.

Men breathe mostly with their right nostril, so they get angry easily.

男生大部分吸氣、吐氣在右邊,所以他們比較會生氣。
Laki-laki bernafas lebih dengan hidung sebelah kanan, sehingga gampang sekali marah.

When we wake up, do we notice which nostril breathes faster? Is it the left side or the right side?

我們起床時,可以注意哪邊吸氣、吐氣比較快?左邊或右邊?
Apakah Anda ada memperhatikan pada saat bangun, lubang hidung sebelah mana yang bernafas lebih cepat ? Sebelah kiri atau kanan ?

If the left nostril breathes faster, you will feel very tired. Close your left nostril and use your right nostril for breathing and you will get refresh quickly.

如果左邊比較快,覺得提不起精神,可以關起左邊鼻孔,用右邊呼吸,很快的精神會好起來。
Jika lubang hidung sebelah kiri bernafas lebih cepat, Anda akan merasa sangat lelah. Tutuplah lubang hidung sebelah kiri dan gunakan lubang hidung sebelah kanan untuk bernafas, Anda akan merasa segar kembali dengan cepat.

You can teach your kids about it. The effect of breathing therapy is much better for adults.

A New Year Message

This is an old post but worth reading over again, so I just copy and paste it here...

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but
less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We all think eating fruit means just buying fruit, cutting it up and popping it into our mouths. It's not that easy. It's important to know how and when to eat fruit.

What's the correct way to eat fruit?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUIT AFTER A MEAL! FRUIT SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

Eating fruit like that plays a major role in detoxifying your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities..

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.
Let's say you eat two slices of bread, then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it's prevented from doing so.

In the meantime, the whole meal rots and ferments, and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach, and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

Eat your fruit on an empty stomach, or before your meal! You've heard people complain: Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc. This will not happen if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. Do not add salt to egg!!!


Do not put salt before or during cooking the egg!
If you put salt before or during cooking the egg, Metamorphosis (chemical changed) will happen.
It is Poisonous. So just put soy sauce during cooking the egg or put salt after the egg is cooked.

Female Heart Attacks

Didn't know that females have different symptoms for heart attack than males!

Did you know that women rarely have the same dramatic symptoms that men have when experiencing heart attack...you know, the sudden stabbing pain in the chest, the cold sweat, grabbing the chest & dropping to the floor that we see in the movies. Here is the story of one woman's experience with a * *heart attack.*

"I had a completely unexpected heart attack at about 10:30 pm with NO prior exertion, NO prior emotional trauma that one would suspect might have brought it on. I was sitting all snugly & warm on a cold evening, with my purring cat in my lap, reading an interesting story my friend had sent me, and actually thinking, "A-A-h, this is the life, all cozy and warm in my soft, cushy Lazy Boy with my feet propped up."

A moment later, I felt that awful sensation of indigestion, when you've been in a hurry and grabbed a bite of sandwich and washed it down with a dash of water, and that hurried bite seems to feel like you've swallowed a golf ball going down the esophagus in slow motion and it is most uncomfortable. You realize you shouldn't have gulped it down so fast and needed to chew it more thoroughly and this time drink a glass of water to hasten its progress down to the stomach. This was my initial sensation---the only trouble was that I hadn't taken a bite of anything
since about 5:00 p.m.

"After that had seemed to subside, the next sensation was like little squeezing motions that seemed to be racing up my SPINE (hind-sight, it was probably my aorta spasming), g aining speed as they continued racing up and under my sternum (breast bone, where one presses rhythmically when administering CPR). This fascinating process continued on into my throat and branched out into both jaws.

"AHA!! NOW I stopped puzzling about what was happening--we all have read and/or heard about pain in the jaws being one of the signals of an MI happening, haven't we? I said aloud to myself and the cat, "Dear God, I think I'm having a heart attack !"

I lowered the foot rest, dumping the cat from my lap, started to take a step and fell on the floor instead. I thought to myself "If this is a heart attack, I shouldn't be walking into the next room where the phone is or anywhere else....... but, on the other hand, if I don't, nobody will know that I need help, and if I wait any longer I may not be able to get up in a moment."

"I pulled myself up with the arms of the chair, walked slowly into thenext room and dialed the Paramedics... I told her I thought I was havinga heart attack due to the pressure building under the sternum andradiating into my jaws. I didn't feel hysterical or afraid, just statingthe facts. She said she was sending the Paramedics over immediately,asked if the front door was near to me, and if so, to unbolt the door and then lie down on the floor where they could see me when they came in.

"I then laid down on the floor as instructed and lost consciousness, as I don't remember the medics coming in, their examination, lifting me onto a gurney or getting me into their ambulance, or hearing the call they made to St. Jude ER on the way, but I did briefly awaken when we arrived and saw that the Cardiologist was already there in his surgical blues and cap, helping the medics pull my stretcher out of the ambulance.

He was bending over me asking questions (probably something like "Have you taken any medications?") but I couldn't make my mind interpret what he was saying, or form an answer, and nodded off again, not waking up until the Cardiologist and partner had already threaded the teeny angiogram balloon up my femoral artery into the aorta and into my heart where they installed 2 side by side stints to hold open my right coronary artery.

"I know it sounds like all my thinking and actions at home must have taken at least 20-30 minutes before calling the Paramedics, but actually it took perhaps 4-5 minutes before the call, and both the fire station and St. Jude are only minutes away from my home, and my Cardiologist was all ready to go to the OR in his scrubs and get going on restarting my heart (which had stopped somewhere between my arrival
and the procedure) and installing the stints.

"Why have I written all of this to you with so much detail? Because I want all of you who are s o important in my life to know what I learned first hand."

1. Be aware that something very different is happening in your body, not the usual men's symptoms, but inexplicable things happening (until my sternum and jaws got into the act ).

It is said that many more women than men die of their first (and last) MI because they didn't know they were having one, and commonly mistake it as indigestion, take some Maalox or other anti-heartburn preparation, and go to bed, hoping they'll feel better in the morning when they wake up....which doesn't happen.

My female friends, your symptoms might not be exactly like mine, so I advise you to call the Paramedics if ANYTHING is unpleasantly happening that you've not felt before. It is better to have a "false alarm" visitation than to risk your life guessing what it might be!

2. Note that I said "Call the Paramedics". Ladies, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! Do NOT try to drive yourself to the ER--you're a hazard to others on the road, and so is your panicked husband who will be speeding and looking anxiously at what's happening with you instead of the road.

Do NOT call your doctor--he doesn't know where you live and if it's at night you won't reach him anyway, and if it's daytime, his assistants (or answering service) will tell you to call the Paramedics. He doesn't carry the equipment in his car that you need to be saved! The Paramedics do, principally OXYGEN that you need ASAP. Your Dr. will be notified later.

3. Don't assume it couldn't be a heart attack because you have a normal cholesterol count. Research has discovered that a cholesterol elevated reading is rarely the cause of an MI (unless it's unbelievably high,and/or accompanied by high blood pressure.)

MI's are usually caused by long-term stress and inflammation in the body,which dumps all sorts of deadly hormones into your system to sludge things up in there. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar, is a cancer-feeder.

By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like Nutrasweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt. ( THE WEST MADE US 2 CHANGE FROM SEA 2 WHITE IODISED SALT )

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus .

By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment.

A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment.
About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine.

Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water- best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital was on a TV program to explain this health hazard.

He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as CorningWare, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food.

You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

How to stop cough

Cough Remedy from a Friend

“Received two recommendations to stop coughing over the past few months and would like to share with you my experiences.

I have been coughing since Christmas and tried prescription 1 below.

Applied the Vicks Vapor Rub at about 12 midnight, after coming home from a wedding dinner.

Was pleased that it had immediate effect with the coughing stopped evidently. However, my sleep was disrupted by coughing at around 2 am when the effect wore off. Tried a second application and this time it lasted till about 6.30 am when another bolt of severe coughing returned.

As the vapor rub remedy provided only temporary relief, decided to try another remedy,

prescription 2: “Grilled Oranges,” this morning after breakfast. This worked better to drive the coughing away almost completely. Below is how to grill and eat the orange.”

Prescription 2: Grilled Oranges


Follow these steps:

1. First poke a hole on the Orange for the purpose of allowing heat to enter the flesh and enabling the flesh to be easily extracted after
roasting.

2. Put it inside an ordinary small oven. Roast for 10 minutes, then the fruity flavour will come out. After the orange has been baked, it is really fragrant, with a roomful of pleasant smelling quite different from the original orange flavour. It is a relatively moisturizing, aromatic taste. It's really beyond imagination. Go and bake an orange, it will let you enjoy the flavour.

3. Grill until the orange is like that on the left side, with its skin a little bit charred! Take out the whole orange. It's warm and can warm your hands and face. The flesh inside is just fine in temperature.

4. The grilled orange can be easily peeled. Staining it with some salt would make it sweeter and better for healing coughing! Compared to medicine, I believe that every child will like it better. Try grill an orange forthwith, any kind of orange can be baked like this!

This is a must try....
We have all been kept awake by our own or someone else's cough. Try this and pass it on...
The tip and not the cough. ANYTHING is! Better than antibiotics... Even babies could benefit from this and the parents wouldn’t worry about the safety of their child... And of course, it is harmless and free from any type of side-effects.

Treatment:
To stop night time coughing in a child (or an adult, as! we found out personally), put Vicks Vapor Rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime and then cover with socks.

Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about five minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief... This works 100 percent of the time, and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription coughs medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe these findings on the part of their scientists when they were investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children, as compared to alter! native therapies like acupressure. I just happened to tune in to a.m. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs, so I listened.. It w! as a surprising finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, and in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.

My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago, and it worked 100 percent! She said it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her. The coughing stopped in a few minutes! and believe me this was a deep (incredibly annoying!) every few seconds, uncontrollable cough and she slept cough-free for hours every night she used it.

Cancer Symptoms Most Often Ignored

Annual checkups and tests such as colonoscopies and PSA assays are important, but it’s not a good idea to rely on tests alone to protect you from cancer.

It’s just as important to listen to your body and notice anything that’s different, odd, or unexplainable.

(You should also listen to those close to you, such as a wife or partner, because others sometimes notice things we’re unaware of–or don’t want to admit.)

You don’t want to join the ranks of cancer patients who realize too late that symptoms they’d noticed for a long time could have sounded the alarm earlier, when cancer was easier to cure.

1. Upset stomach or stomachache

One of the first signs colon cancer patients remember experiencing when they look back is unexplained stomach aches.

Those with pancreatic cancer describe a dull ache that feels like it’s pressing inward.

Many liver cancer patients say they went in complaining of stomach cramps and upset stomachs so frequently that their doctors thought they had ulcers. Liver cancer patients and those with leukemia can experience abdominal pain resulting from an enlarged spleen, which may feel like an ache on the lower left side..

If you have a stomachache that you can’t attribute to a digestive problem or that doesn’t go away, ask your doctor to order an ultrasound.

Finding a liver or pancreatic tumor early can make all the difference in treatment.

2. Chronic “acid stomach” or feeling full after a small meal

The most common early sign of stomach cancer is pain in the upper or middle abdomen that feels like gas or heartburn. It may be aggravated by eating, so that you feel full when you haven’t actually eaten much. What’s particularly confusing is that the pain can be relieved by antacids, confirming your conclusion that it was caused by acid in the stomach, when it’s more than that.

An unexplained pain or ache in lower right side can be the first sign of liver cancer, known as one of the “silent killers.”
Feeling full after a small meal is a common sign of liver cancer as well.
If you have frequent bouts of acid stomach, an unexplained abdominal ache, or a full feeling after meals even when you’re eating less than normal, call your doctor.

3. Unexplained weight loss

If you notice the pounds coming off and you haven’t made changes to your diet or exercise regime, it’s important to find out why. Unexplained weight loss can be an early sign of colon and other digestive cancers; it can also be a sign of cancer that’s spread to the liver, affecting your appetite and the ability of your body to rid itself of waste.

4. Jaundice

Pancreatic cancer, another one of the “silent killers,” is often discovered when someone notices jaundice and asks the doctor to do a battery of tests. Jaundice is most commonly thought of as a yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, but darker-than- normal urine that’s not the result of dehydration is also a sign. Clay-colored stools are another little-known sign of jaundice. Oddly, jaundice can also cause itching, because the bile salts in the bloodstream cause the skin to itch.

Some people with pancreatic cancer say they noticed the itching before they noticed the jaundice itself.

5. Wheezing or shortness of breath

One of the first signs lung cancer patients remember noticing when they look back is the inability to catch their breath. “ I couldn’t even walk to my car without wheezing; I thought I had asthma, but how come I didn’t have it before ? ”, is how one man described it. Shortness of breath, chest pain, or spitting blood are also signs of testicular cancer that’s spread to the lungs.

6. Chronic cough or chest pain

Several types of cancer, including leukemia and lung tumors, can cause symptoms that mimic a bad cough or bronchitis.

One way to tell the difference: The problems persist, or go away and come back again in a repeating cycle. Some lung cancer patients report chest pain that extends up into the shoulder or down the arm.

7. Frequent fevers or infections

These can be signs of leukemia, a cancer of the blood cells that starts in the bone marrow. Leukemia causes the marrow to produce abnormal white blood cells, which crowd out healthy white cells, sapping the body’s infection-fighting capabilities. Doctors sometimes catch leukemia in older adults only after the patient has been in a number of times complaining of fever, aches, and flu-like symptoms over an extended period of time.

8. Difficulty swallowing

Most commonly associated with esophageal or throat cancer, having trouble swallowing is sometimes one of the first signs of lung cancer, too. Men diagnosed with esophageal cancer look back and remember a feeling of pressure and soreness when swallowing that didn’t go away the way a cold or flu would have. Consult your doctor also if you have a frequent feeling of needing to clear your throat or that food is stuck in your chest; either of these can signal a narrowing of the esophagus that could mean the presence of a tumor.

9. Chronic heartburn

If you just ate half a pizza, heartburn is expected. But if you have frequent episodes of heartburn or a constant low-level feeling of pain in the chest after eating, call your doctor and ask to be screened for esophageal cancer.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) — a condition in which stomach acid rises into the esophagus, causing heartburn and an acidic taste in the throat — can trigger a condition called Barrett’s esophagus, which can be a precursor of esophageal cancer...

10. Swelling of facial features

Some patients with lung cancer report that they noticed puffiness, swelling, or redness in the face. The explanation for this is that small cell lung tumors commonly block blood vessels in the chest, preventing blood from flowing freely from the head and face.

11. Swollen lymph nodes or lumps on the neck, underarm, or groin

Enlarged lymph nodes indicate changes in the lymphatic system, which can be a sign of cancer. For example, a lump or an enlarged lymph in the neck or underarm is sometimes a sign of thyroid, head, or throat cancer.

A painless lump on the neck, underarm, or groin can be an early sign of leukemia.

12. Excessive bruising or bleeding that doesn’t stop

This symptom usually suggests something abnormal happening with the platelets and red blood cells, which can be a sign of leukemia. One man with leukemia noticed that his gums bled when he brushed his teeth; another described bruising in strange places, such as on his fingers and hands.

The explanation : Over time, leukemia cells crowd out red blood cells and platelets, impairing the blood’s ability to carry oxygen and clot.

13. Weakness and fatigue

“I had to stop halfway across the yard and sit down when I was mowing the lawn,” said one man when describing the fatigue that led to his discovery of pancreatic cancer. Generalized fatigue and weakness is a symptom of so many different kinds of cancer (and other ills) that you’ll need to look at it in combination with other symptoms.

But any time, you feel exhausted without explanation and it doesn’t respond to getting more sleep, talk to your doctor.

14. Rectal bleeding or blood in stool

“I thought it was hemorrhoids” is one of the most common statements doctors hear when diagnosing colorectal cancer.

Blood in the toilet alone is reason to call your doctor and schedule a colonoscopy.

Another sign of blood in the stool many people miss is stools that are darker in color.

15. Bowel problems

Constipation, diarrhea, and changes in stools can all be signs of cancer.
As with many other cancer symptoms, the way to tell if this is cause for concern is if it goes on for more than a few days without a clear cause, such as flu or food poisoning.

People diagnosed with colon cancer say they noticed more frequent stools, as well as a feeling that their bowels were not emptied completely.

One of the early signs of pancreatic cancer is fatty stools, which can be recognized as frequent, large stools that are paler than normal and smelly. This is a sign that your body’s not absorbing your food normally, and it should be brought to your doctor’s attention.

16. Difficulty urinating or changes in flow

Hands-down, the most common early sign of prostate cancer is a feeling of not being able to start peeing once you’re set to go. Many men also report having a hard time stopping the flow of urine, a flow that starts and stops, or a stream that’s weaker than normal. Any of these symptoms is reason to call your doctor for an exam and a screening test for prostate-specific antigen.

17. Pain or burning during urination

This symptom can also indicate a urinary tract infection or sexually transmitted disease, of course, but in any case it warrants an immediate trip to the doctor. This symptom is often combined with the feeling that you need to go more often, particularly at night. These same symptoms can also indicate inflammation or infection in the prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia, the name for what happens when the prostate grows bigger and blocks the flow of urine. However, you need to get checked out to tell the difference.


18. Blood in urine or semen

Men are often warned about blood in the urine, but they may not realize that blood in semen is also a danger sign for prostate cancer. Blood in the urine or semen isn’t always visible as blood; urine may just be a pink, dark red, or smoky brown color, while blood in the semen may just look like a pinkish streak.

19. Erection problems

As prostate cancer progresses, another very common sign is difficulty getting or sustaining an erection. This can be a difficult subject to talk about, but it’s important to bring it to your doctor’s attention. It could be a sign of sexual dysfunction with another cause, of course, but it’s a reason to have an exam and a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test.

20. Pain, aching, or heaviness in the groin, hips, thighs, or abdomen

One sign of prostate cancer is frequent pain in the hips, upper thighs, or the lowest part of the back. Men with testicular cancer report noticing a heavy, aching feeling low in the belly or abdomen, or in the scrotum or testicles themselves. They sometimes describe it as a feeling of downward pulling or as a generalized ache throughout the groin area.

Prostate cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes often makes itself known as discomfort in the pelvis or swelling in the legs.

21. Testicular swelling or lump

The lumps that indicate testicular cancer are nearly always painless.

It’s also common for a testicle to be enlarged or swollen, but lacking any specific lump that you can see or feel.

Some men report feeling discomfort from the enlargement, but not an outright pain.

22. Unexplained back pain

Back pain can mean all sorts of things, of course — most often pulled muscles or disc problems. But unexplained, persistent back pain can be an early sign of cancer as well, so get it checked out.

Pain in the lower back and hips can be a sign of prostate cancer, while pain in the upper back can signal lung cancer.

A pain in the upper abdomen and back is one of the few early signs of pancreatic cancer.

23. Scaly or painful nipple or chest, nipple discharge

Men do get breast cancer; they also get a condition called gynecomastia, which is a benign lump in the breast area. Breast cancer is usually detected as a lump, but if it’s spreading inward it can also cause chest pain.

Other signs of breast cancer include patches of red, scaly, or dimpled skin or changes to the nipple such as turning inward or leaking fluid.

Bring any lump, swelling, or skin or nipple problem, or any chest pain, to your doctor's attention.

24. A sore or skin lump that doesn’t heal, becomes crusty, or bleeds easily

Most of us know how to watch moles for changes that might indicate skin cancer.

But other signs, such as small waxy lumps or dry scaly patches, are easier to miss.

Familiarize yourself with the different types of skin cancermelanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma — and be vigilant about checking skin all over the body for odd-looking growths or spots.

25. Changes in nails

Unexplained changes to the fingernails can be a sign of several types of cancer.

A brown or black streak or dot under the nail can indicate skin cancer .

A newly discovered “clubbing,” which means enlargement of the ends of the fingers, with nails that curve down over the tips, can be a sign of lung cancer..

Pale or white nails can be an indication that your liver is not functioning properly, sometimes a sign of liver cancer.

The Nine Habits of Highly Healthy People

For years, business and motivational gurus have known that there are basic habits that seem to predict professional success and excellence. Books like "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", by motivational speaker and business guru Stephen Covey, PhD has sold over 15 million copies alone, to people hungry for the secrets of success.

We don't yet have the perfect formula for long life, happiness and physical health, but a little careful distillation of the massive amount of research on health and longevity reveals that cultivating nine basic habits will significantly increase the odds of your living long, well and happily, in a robust, healthy, weight-appropriate body.


1. Eat your vegetables. No kidding. And I'm talking at least
9 servings a day.. Unless you're following the most stringent first stage of the Atkins Diet, you should be able to consume 60-120 grams of carbs a day (depending on your weight and exercise level), and you'd have to eat a stockyard full of spinach to get to that amount. Every major study of long-lived, healthy people shows that they eat a ton of plant foods. Nothing delivers antioxidants, fiber, flavonoids, indoles, and the entire pharmacopia of disease fighting phytochemicals like stuff that grows.

2. Eat fish and/or take fish oil. The
Omega-3's found in cold-water fish like salmon deserve the title of "wellness molecule of the century". They lower the risk of heart disease, they lower blood pressure, they improve mood and they're good for the brain. And if you're pregnant, they may make your kid smarter!

3. Connect. And I'm not talking about the internet. In virtually every study of people who are healthy and happy into their 9th and 10th decade,
social connections are one of the "prime movers" in their life. Whether church, family, volunteer work or community, finding something you care about that's bigger than you that you can connect with and that involves other people (or animals) will extend your life, increase your energy, and make you happier. Only always.

4. Get some sun.
At least 10-15 minutes three times a week. Interestingly, a recent study of four places in the globe where people lived the longest and were the healthiest noted that all four places were in sunny climates. Sun improves your mood and boosts levels of cancer-fighting, performance-enhancing, bone-strengthening vitamin D, a vitamin most people don't get nearly enough of.

5. Sleep Well. If you're low in energy,
gaining weight, grumpy and looking haggard, guess what?- chances are you're not sleeping nearly long enough nor well enough. By sleeping "well", I mean uninterrupted sleep, in the dark, without the television on, in a relaxing environment. Nothing nourishes, replenishes and restarts the system like 7-9 hours sleep. Hint: start by going to bed an hour early. And if you've got a computer in the bedroom, banish it.

6. Exercise every day. Forget this
20 minutes three times a week stuff. Long lived people are doing things like farm chores at 4:30 in the morning! Our Paleolithic ancestors traveled an average of 20 miles per day. Our bodies were designed to move on a regular basis. New studies show that merely 30 minutes a day of walking not only reduces the risk of most serious diseases, but can even grow new brain cells!

7. Practise Gratitude. By making a list of things you're grateful for, you focus the brain on positive energy.
Gratitude is incompatable with anger and stress. Practise using your under-utilized "right brain" and spread some love. Focusing on what you're grateful for - even for five minutes a day - has the added benefit of being one of the best stress -reduction techniques on the planet.

8. Drink red wine or eat red grapes. The resveratrol in dark grapes is being studied for its effect on extending life, which it seems to do for almost every species studied. (So does eating about 1/3 less food, by the way.) If you've got a problem with alcohol, you can get resveratrol from grapes, peanuts or supplements. (And if you're a woman, and you choose the alcohol option, make sure you're getting
folic acid every day.)

9. Get the sugar out. The number one enemy of vitality, health and longevity is not fat, it's sugar. Sugar's effect on hormones, moods, immunity, weight and possibly even
cancer cells is enormous, and it's all negative. To the extent that you can remove it from your diet, you will be adding years to your life and life to your years.

This list may not be perfect and it may not be complete, but it's a start. As my dear grandmother used to say, "Couldn't hurt". Not one of these "habits" will hurt you, all will benefit you, and some may make the difference between life and death.

And it's never too late to start cultivating them.
